Chocoquest - Pilot Project

EMBODY SGARIBALD, A MIGHTY WARRIOR AND RESCUE THE CHOCOJOES FROM A TERRIBLE FATE !

This project was made in the context of the GGJ 2024, the imposed theme was "Make me laugh".

The game is inspired by corpo-games we could sometimes find in cereal boxes in the early 2000's. We wanted to convey nostalgia and bring the player back in this PS1 era, aliased textures, cheesy punchlines, over-the-top characters and straight-forward mechanics.

This short game is a pilot project :  we intend to make Chocoquest 2, with more features, and a bigger focus on ennemies design, lore, more attention given to details. Yves Levenez, co-creator, produced all the sounds, composed the music, voice acted, and was our artistic director for the project. He was also of a great help to get direct feedbacks on design.

On the other hand, Emilion Sannié (that's me) programmed, game designed and was at the technical realization, UX design and took part to the creative direction.
It was a real thrill & challenge to find all the ways possible to achieve that result in a very limited amount of time (5 days).

Overall, we both put our creative energies at work, and used a wide range of techniques to achieve this result.
